Bandra Hit-And-Run: SUV Driver Megha Rawal Sent To Judicial Custody

In the hit-and-run case involving the death of eight-year-old Ansh Gupta in Bandra West on Sunday, nutritionist and entrepreneur Megha Rawal, 45, was remanded to 14 days of judicial custody on Tuesday. Magistrate ET Ingale rejected the police's request for extended custody, finding no additional evidence during her one-day remand. Her bail application will be heard on Wednesday at Dindoshi Sessions Court.
Outside the Bandra magistrate court, the boy's family confronted Rawal as she was escorted to a police vehicle, chasing and banging on its windows. Police shielded her during the encounter and moved her SUV, fearing damage from an angry mob. The boy's father Rajendra Gupta and other relatives appeared before the magistrate seeking justice.
Rawal's lawyers argued that CCTV footage was grainy and did not confirm phone use while driving. They said call records showed she contacted her husband only after learning her vehicle hit the child. Police recorded statements from eyewitness Shiva Sameer Sigdar, a milk seller, and found no evidence of prior disputes among parties involved.
