Mumbai's Mahalaxmi Cable-Stayed Flyover Opening Pushed to December 2026

Mumbai's Mahalaxmi cable-stayed flyover project, under construction along Keshavrao Khadye Marg near Mahalaxmi Railway Station, has been delayed to December 31, 2026, from the original October 31 deadline. The two-month postponement is attributed to utility-shifting work required for the project.
The 803-metre-long, 17.2-metre-wide bridge will connect Saat Rasta with Mahalaxmi Ground and will be the Mumbai civic body's first cable-based bridge spanning railway tracks. A 78.5-metre-tall pylon has been erected to support the structure, with the 95-metre western span completed. Work on the 165-metre eastern span, located within railway premises, awaits a traffic block from the Railways.
Construction of five piers remains pending pending traffic diversion approval from police. The Bridge Department is laying utility lines and constructing a service road to facilitate the diversion.
