Debt deal for Anil Ambani's Mumbai Metro 1 collapses, longer trains for 5 lakh riders on hold

A debt restructuring deal for Anil Ambani's Mumbai Metro 1 project has collapsed, putting on hold plans to expand train capacity for around 5 lakh daily commuters.
The project, which operates the Red Line metro corridor connecting Versova to Andheri, was seeking financial restructuring to fund longer trains that would increase passenger capacity and ease congestion on the heavily used route.
The failed financial arrangement raises concerns about the timeline for service improvements and the ability of the metro system to accommodate growing ridership demands in the city.
