Mumbai Port handles 2.4 lakh cruise passengers in FY26 amid India's tourism push

Mumbai Port Authority handled over 2.4 lakh cruise passengers and 95 cruise vessels during FY 2025-26, strengthening its position in India's growing cruise tourism sector. Domestic operations dominated with 87 vessels carrying 2,26,837 passengers, while eight international ships brought 13,509 passengers.
The port's capacity has been bolstered by the newly commissioned Mumbai International Cruise Terminal, India's largest with a 4.15 lakh sq ft spread. It can handle up to 10 lakh passengers annually and process 10,000 passengers daily, accommodating vessels with capacities up to 4,500 passengers.
The Centre's Cruise Bharat Mission, launched from Mumbai, aims to expand cruise traffic and destinations. Industry experts view the terminal as essential infrastructure to establish Mumbai as a major cruise hub on India's western coast and support the government's cruise tourism targets.
