Mumbai Crime Branch Probes ₹1.3 Crore Extortion Demand Linked to Prabhadevi Redevelopment

The Anti-Extortion Cell of Mumbai Crime Branch is investigating an alleged extortion case in which two men demanded ₹1.3 crore from a legal manager of a private construction company. The complaint was filed at Dadar Police Station by Tijarat Ali Jumman Khan, 61, legal manager at Rational Arts of Press Pvt. Ltd., which owns Rational House at Prabhadevi.
According to the FIR, the company obtained redevelopment permissions from the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation in January 2026. However, a man identified as Raghavendra Kolgi filed a complaint with BMC on March 9, 2026, questioning the permissions and alleging document irregularities. This halted the redevelopment work.
Khan alleged that Kolgi subsequently demanded ₹2 crore during a meeting on April 20, claiming he needed funds to contest an upcoming election as an independent candidate. Kolgi allegedly threatened to file further complaints, pursue RTI applications, and ensure the project remained stalled if payment was not made.
