Seth Juggilal Poddar Academy in Mumbai hosts film pedagogy workshop for teachers

Seth Juggilal Poddar Academy (ICSE) in Mumbai conducted a teacher training workshop focused on film pedagogy, exploring how films can be effectively used as an educational tool in classrooms. The workshop was led by filmmaker and entrepreneur Shweta Parakh, founder of Purple People Labs, who shared insights on the evolving role of cinema in education with primary and secondary teachers.
Participants learned methods to integrate films into classroom discussions using specialized workbooks containing exercises designed to foster socio-emotional development. The workshop examined how films can develop critical thinking, build empathy, and help students connect with topics beyond textbooks.
Principal Rekha Anand stated the school's commitment to holistic education, noting that film-making is now part of the academy's curriculum. "Every story has the power to teach. Every frame has the power to inspire," she said.
