Mumbai Youth, Students Learn Eco-Friendly Ganpati Idol-Making at FPJ-BMC Workshop

Mumbai held a hands-on workshop on Wednesday where approximately 50 youth and school students learned to craft eco-friendly Ganesha idols using natural clay. Organized jointly by The Free Press Journal and the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation, the session marked a key event under the media house's green campaign initiative.
Expert sculptors from Sir J.J. School of Architecture led participants through clay-modeling techniques, from base preparation to facial detailing. The experts emphasized using natural water-based pigments instead of synthetic dyes and demonstrated how clay idols dissolve harmlessly in household water, preventing pollution of Mumbai's water bodies.
The workshop formed a prelude to the seventh edition of the 'FPJ Eco Ganesha Mayor's Award', which recognizes families hosting the best eco-friendly Ganpati idols across Mumbai. Members from NGOs including Ratnanidhi Charitable Trust and Ghaswala Vision Foundation also participated in the event.
