JP Nadda meets OBC leaders over UGC rollback, postpones mahapanchayat

BJP chief JP Nadda and Union Minister Jitendra Singh met with OBC leaders late on September 20 to discuss concerns over UGC rollback. The meeting included representatives from Akhil Bharatiya Kshatriya Mahasabha, Kshatriya Karni Sena, and other groups, led by Raj Shekhawal, founder of the OBC Mahapanchayat Committee.
Following the talks, Nadda said the government would consider their demands fairly and scheduled another meeting within three weeks. In a significant move, Shekhawal and his delegation decided to postpone the mahapanchayat scheduled for September 20, 2026.
Nadda posted on X that discussions were held in a cordial atmosphere on issues raised by the groups. The postponement suggests the government's engagement with OBC representations on the UGC matter is ongoing.
