Nationalist Citizens Party: Founded in 2022, Never Contested Lok Sabha, Now Has 22 MPs

The Nationalist Citizens Party (NCPI), founded in 2022, has gained attention across India, particularly in West Bengal. The party holds 22 Lok Sabha seats despite never contesting a general election—a development linked to rebel MPs from West Bengal's Trinamool Congress who have sought NDA support and separate parliamentary seating.
The party, headquartered in Hatgacha village in Howrah district, fielded candidates only in the 2023 Tripura assembly election, securing minimal votes. It has over 1,000 members. The party is headed by Shelly Kundu, with Atanu Kundu as vice president and Shantanu De as organizational secretary.
Originally planning to contest 2026 elections in Assam and Bengal, the party cited financial constraints for not participating. The party has minimal public visibility and operates from a modest office building in West Bengal.
