Navy Sailor's Wife Feared for Family's Safety Week Before Deaths, Says Probe

A week before an Indian Navy sailor, his wife and two young children were found dead at their Navy Nagar residence in Mumbai, the woman had called her father expressing fear that her depressed husband might harm the family. The father travelled to Mumbai to take them away, but the sailor allegedly argued with him and prevented their departure.
Police investigating the suspected murder-suicide learned that the couple from Rajasthan had been married nearly four years and frequently quarrelled. The sailor had been undergoing treatment for depression for several months and spoke about death, heightening his wife's fears. Relations between their families were strained, and the woman came from a financially weaker background.
The 30-year-old sailor, his wife, and their three-year-old and two-month-old children were discovered dead on Sunday at their official residence. Police suspect the sailor killed his family before dying by suicide.
