NCERT drops Gandhi assassination from textbook, but his legacy endures

The National Council of Educational Research and Training has decided to exclude the assassination of Mahatma Gandhi from its history textbooks. This editorial argues that such curricular decisions cannot erase Gandhi's profound impact on India's independence movement and his continuing relevance to the nation's collective memory.
Despite attempts to reshape educational narratives, the Mahatma's legacy remains deeply embedded in Indian historical consciousness. His contributions to India's freedom struggle and his philosophical influence transcend any textbook revision.
