NCPI Emerges as Unlikely Vehicle for TMC Rebel MPs

The National Congress Party of India (NCPI), a West Bengal-based political outfit registered in 2023, is set to accommodate around 20 Lok Sabha MPs, largely comprising rebels from the Trinamool Congress. The obscure party, which fielded candidates in Tripura elections the same year, has gained unexpected prominence through the defections.
NCPI's leadership includes a lawyer, a self-described mathematician, and a motivational speaker, according to reports. The party's sudden expansion reflects the political realignment following recent defections from the TMC.
