New Zealand Cricket defends domestic T20 competition launch

New Zealand Cricket has defended its decision to launch the NZ20 domestic T20 competition following backlash from prominent figures in the sport. In March, NZC announced that NZ20 would replace the existing Super Smash provincial competition.
Cricket legend Richard Hadlee and former NZC President Lesley Murdoch have publicly criticised the move. Despite the opposition, NZC has stood by the decision to introduce the new tournament format.
