Northeast Frontier Railway to Arrange Special Trains for Ambubachi Mela 2026

The Northeast Frontier Railway is preparing comprehensive arrangements for the Ambubachi Mela at Kamakhya Temple in Guwahati, scheduled for June 22-25, 2026. The railway will operate three special unreserved train services with nearly 50 General Second Class coaches, along with 11 additional coaches on regular passenger trains to manage the expected surge in pilgrim traffic.
Special trains connecting Kamakhya with destinations in Assam and North Bengal will run during the mela period. NFR will also deploy additional railway and security personnel, establish help desks, and distribute food and drinking water to devotees. These measures aim to ensure safe and comfortable travel while facilitating effective crowd management during the region's major spiritual gathering.
