NGT directs Pune authorities to enforce silence zone noise restrictions

The National Green Tribunal (NGT) has directed the Maharashtra government and the state's Director General of Police to enforce noise restrictions in designated silence zones across Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad. The tribunal's order aims to prevent loudspeaker noise violations in areas classified as silence zones, where stricter sound level limits apply.
Silence zones typically include hospitals, educational institutions, courts, and residential areas. The NGT's directive requires authorities to ensure compliance with existing noise pollution regulations and implement monitoring mechanisms to curb violations.
