NIA raid in Patna: suspect evades arrest, ₹20 lakh found in neighbour's scooter

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) conducted a raid Monday night in Chitraguptanagar area of Patna along with STF and local police, targeting suspect Sandeep Gupta at an apartment. However, Gupta was not found at the location, with reports suggesting he fled before the team arrived.
During the operation, a businessman residing in another flat in the same apartment panicked upon seeing the NIA and police presence and attempted to flee on a scooter. STF and local police apprehended him. A search of the scooter's trunk revealed approximately ₹20 lakh in cash. The arrested person was identified as Anmol Kumar Modi from East Champaran's Chakiya ward, who is engaged in business.
After questioning, Modi was released on bond. Police have referred the cash recovery to the Income Tax Department for investigation into its source and legitimacy. Meanwhile, NIA continues searching for Sandeep Gupta and gathering information on his possible locations.
