NIRF Rankings Lack Transparency, Favour Elite Institutions: Experts

Education experts have raised concerns about the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF), pointing out that certain parameters lack transparency and are susceptible to manipulation. The rankings, they argue, disproportionately favour large elite universities located in urban centres.
According to specialists, the current NIRF methodology does not provide a fair assessment of educational quality across institutions. The concerns centre on how parameters are defined, weighted, and measured, with critics questioning whether the framework adequately captures the diverse contributions of educational institutions beyond traditional metrics.
