Education Ministry Orders Full Security Audit of NTA; Over 50 Staff Removed

On 17 August, Education Minister Pralhad Joshi announced corrective and structural reforms at the National Testing Agency following recent examination administration issues. A review meeting with senior officials assessed measures to strengthen the examination system.
More than 50 NTA staff members have been removed as part of the reform process. The agency is onboarding 10 new professional leadership positions, including Chief Technology Officer, Chief Finance Officer, Chief Information Security Officer, and General Manager (Test Security), alongside domain specialists from the private sector in cybersecurity, psychometrics and question-paper design.
The Minister directed NTA to strictly follow established examination protocols, implement a complete overhaul of the Confidential Operations framework with secluded rooms and air-gapped systems, conduct a comprehensive audit of all examination processes, and submit a detailed report on corrective measures and proposed reforms.
