Omar Abdullah warns Ladakhis: 'Get Delhi's promises in writing'

National Conference leader Omar Abdullah has cautioned the people of Ladakh against trusting verbal assurances from Delhi, urging them to insist on written commitments instead.
Abdullah pointed to the Centre's promise to restore statehood to Jammu & Kashmir immediately after elections as an example of unfulfilled pledges. "Nearly two years have passed, and that promise is nowhere to be seen," he said, highlighting what he characterizes as a pattern of broken commitments by the central government.
The remarks reflect broader concerns within opposition parties over the handling of J&K's political status following the abrogation of Article 370 in 2019.
