Opposition Parties Oppose FCRA Bill, Allege Targeting of Minorities
Rahul Gandhi briefed opposition parties on discussions covering the delimitation bill and the Foreign Contribution Regulation Act (FCRA) amendments. The opposition expressed concerns that the FCRA bill could disproportionately affect minority organisations and communities.
Opposition members flagged the potential removal of retrospective effect clauses in the bill, viewing it as a matter of concern. The opposition also reiterated its position on women's reservation, maintaining that it should be implemented within the current Lok Sabha strength.
Parliamentary proceedings are reportedly dependent on government statements regarding protests and donations. The opposition continues to coordinate on key legislative matters ahead of parliamentary sessions.
