Owaisi questions SIR process in Telangana, flags discrepancies and rule on large families

Hyderabad MP and AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi has raised serious concerns about the Special Integrated Review (SIR) of voter rolls underway in Telangana, terming the process flawed. He visited seven SIR hearing centres in Karwan assembly area and reported significant irregularities, including 59,470 discrepancies and 40,750 unmapped cases in Karwan alone.
Owaisi flagged multiple issues: living voters being marked as deceased, voters at the same address listed as shifted, and eligible voters facing removal from final rolls. He criticised a rule sending notices to voters with more than six children, arguing no law restricts family size and questioning its legal validity.
Owaisi urged officials to correct errors immediately and appealed to affected voters to complete verification at designated hearing centres with Aadhaar and documents. AIMIM has set up help desks at centres to assist residents. Owaisi also requested extension of the deadline from 21 days to four weeks.
