Operation Sindoor Declassified: India's Retaliatory Strikes After Pahalgam Attack

Newly declassified details of Operation Sindoor have revealed the extensive planning and secrecy surrounding India's retaliatory military strikes following the Pahalgam terror attack. Indian military leadership anticipated Pakistan would respond heavily after terrorist targets were neutralised and conducted detailed war-gaming of all possible retaliation scenarios in advance.
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh decided the strike date on May 1, with operations scheduled for May 7 between 1 am and 2 am. The timing was kept under exceptional secrecy, conveyed through paper chits rather than digital or telephone communication. Colonel Ashish Upreti, Director of Strategic Communication, noted Pakistan's sophisticated information warfare tactics and stated India ensured real-time visual evidence of strikes to counter misinformation on an "industrial scale".
The operation was structured with the understanding that initial strikes would not mark the end of military action. Indian forces prepared comprehensively for potential Pakistani responses and subsequent developments.
