Large quantity of PDS rice seized in enforcement operation

Enforcement authorities have seized a significant quantity of rice in an operation targeting the diversion of public distribution system (PDS) grain. According to investigation details, Mandya-based Annapurneshwari Enterprises had procured rice from a local Food Corporation of India (FCI) godown.
The company subsequently sold the rice to Sailar Exports Ltd, a Madhya Pradesh-based firm. The grain was being prepared for export via the port of Chennai, marking an apparent breach of PDS regulations meant to supply subsidised food grains to beneficiaries.
The seizure underscores ongoing concerns over the diversion of government-supplied commodities into commercial channels, circumventing the intended social welfare distribution system.
