Piyush Goyal appointed BJP treasurer as sole Union Minister in Nitin Nabin's team

Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal has been appointed treasurer of the BJP under newly elected party president Nitin Nabin, marking him as the only serving Union Minister included in the expanded party leadership. A chartered accountant by profession, Goyal will hold both ministerial and party positions concurrently.
Goyal's father, Ved Prakash Goyal, served as a Union Minister during the Atal Bihari Vajpayee government and held the position of national BJP treasurer for nearly two decades. Goyal has been a continuous minister since 2014 and previously served as treasurer of Maharashtra BJP.
The development has sparked speculation about a potential cabinet expansion. Other senior ministers holding party positions include Pankaj Chaudhary, who became Uttar Pradesh BJP chief in December, and Harsh Malhotra, appointed Delhi BJP chief in May. Meanwhile, former Railway Minister Ravneet Singh Bittu, whose Rajya Sabha term ended recently, is expected to receive larger responsibilities in Punjab.
