PM Internship Scheme upgraded to bridge skill gap, stipend raised to ₹9,000
The PM Internship Scheme has been redesigned to address the mismatch between industry needs and job-seeker skills, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced. Senior industry leaders have flagged a substantial shortage of skilled workers across the country.
Under the upgraded scheme, the government has increased stipends to ₹9,000 and lowered the eligibility age to eighteen. Final-year undergraduates can now participate in the initiative, which is being administered by the corporate affairs ministry.
