Next phase of PM-KUSUM may get approval soon with agrivoltaics focus

The next phase of PM-KUSUM scheme is likely to receive approval soon, featuring a dedicated agrivoltaics component, according to statements by a senior government official. The initiative will enable farmers to generate additional income through electricity production on their agricultural land.
The new phase will prioritize small farmers, cooperatives, and panchayats. Agrivoltaics involves integrating solar power generation with farming activities on the same plot of land, allowing dual use of agricultural space.
Government sources indicate that further research is being conducted to determine optimal configurations for combining crop cultivation with solar installations to maximize benefits for farmers.
