Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated five major development projects in Ladakh valued at Rs 3,350 crore. The initiatives focus on enhancing connectivity, power infrastructure, cultural heritage and water security across the Union Territory.
The centerpiece is a new terminal at Leh airport engineered to accommodate 35 lakh passengers annually. Additionally, the 298-km Nimmu-Padum-Darcha Road project aims to improve regional connectivity through challenging Himalayan terrain.
The infrastructure push also includes a 9 MW hydropower project and an associated transmission line for power generation. A significant cultural initiative involves India's first petroglyph conservation park, dedicated to preserving ancient rock art. Under Project Him Sarovar, 40 new water bodies have been developed to bolster water security in the region.
