Post-harvest losses in onion, soybean, custard apple drive economic burden

A working paper by WRI India, developed with field partners including BAIF Development Research Foundation, Samunnati, and the Centre for Advanced Research and Development, examines post-harvest losses across major agricultural commodities.
The study focuses on onion, soybean, and custard apple, identifying how losses at the post-harvest stage compound economic pressures on farmers and the agriculture sector. These inefficiencies also amplify the climate costs associated with crop production.
The research underscores the need for better post-harvest infrastructure and practices to reduce wastage and improve farmer incomes while mitigating environmental impact.
