Power shortage hits Punjab rice mills; Opposition criticizes AAP over unfulfilled promise

Punjab's rice mills are experiencing disruptions due to inadequate power supply, with the state currently receiving 1,051 MW less than its allocated share from the national power grid, according to Power Minister Tarunpreet Singh Sond. The minister has called on the Centre to immediately provide Punjab its due allocation.
The power shortage has drawn criticism from the Opposition, which has pointed to the ruling AAP government's unfulfilled promise of 'Roshan Punjab' — an initiative that was expected to ensure reliable electricity supply across the state.
