President Murmu Meets Odisha Folk Artists, Emphasises Education And Cultural Preservation

President Droupadi Murmu received more than 90 folk artists from Odisha's Ganjam district at Rashtrapati Bhavan on Tuesday. The artists, representing five cultural groups and led by District Collector V Keerthi Vasan, were invited following the President's recent visit to Ganjam, where she witnessed traditional tribal and folk dance performances at Taptapani.
During the interaction, President Murmu stressed the importance of education and the need to preserve India's rich cultural heritage. She emphasised that communities should embrace modern development while remaining rooted in their traditional customs and practices, particularly for those from rural and tribal backgrounds.
The visit recognised Ganjam district's significant folk, tribal art and cultural traditions, bringing together two key aspects of Odisha's identity—traditional art forms and educational empowerment.
