Pune Murder Case Deepens as Victim’s Mother Alleges Hidden Drinking Habit and Premeditated Plot Behind Lohagad Fort Killing
The investigation into the alleged murder of Ketan Agarwal at Lohagad Fort near Pune has taken a deeper turn, with fresh claims emerging from the victim’s family and police widening their probe into what is now believed to be a planned crime.
The case initially appeared to be an accidental death during a birthday trek but has since been reclassified as a suspected murder following police findings.
Mother Alleges Hidden Drinking Habit and Mismatch in Behaviour
The mother of the victim has made strong claims about the behaviour of his fiancée, Siya Goyal, who has been arrested along with her alleged partner Chetan Chaudhary.
She said she had clearly informed Goyal about household expectations, especially regarding alcohol consumption.
She stated that Goyal had visited their home a few times before the engagement discussions and had been told that drinking alcohol would not be allowed in their family environment.
According to her, Goyal still continued to consume alcohol, and this information was allegedly kept hidden from the family by her parents.
The mother has alleged that these undisclosed habits pointed to a deeper disconnect between the families that was not revealed before the engagement progressed.
Family Claims Premeditated Conspiracy
The grieving family has alleged that the accused duo planned and executed the murder together. They claim that the trip to Lohagad Fort was deliberately arranged and used as a cover for the crime.
Police investigations have also reportedly indicated that Siya Goyal and Chetan Chaudhary were in a relationship, which may have played a central role in the alleged conspiracy.
Both accused have been arrested, and questioning is ongoing as investigators attempt to reconstruct the sequence of events leading to the incident.
Investigation Shifted from Accident to Murder
Authorities initially treated the death as a possible accidental fall during a trekking outing. However, the case shifted after inconsistencies emerged during the probe.
Police now believe the incident may have been carefully planned, with evidence suggesting coordination between the accused before the visit to Lohagad Fort.
Investigators are also examining CCTV footage and digital trails to establish how the victim ended up at the location and whether the movement was premeditated.

The victim’s father has also expressed deep anguish over the incident, questioning why the situation escalated to murder.
He stated that if there were relationship issues, the engagement could have been called off instead of resulting in violence.
