Punjab to provide subsidised plots to shopkeepers displaced by Operation Blue Star

The Punjab High Court has directed the state government to provide subsidised plots to shopkeepers who were displaced during Operation Blue Star four decades ago. The court rejected the Punjab government's opposition to lowering the allotment rate, describing the justification as "ex facie unfair, discriminatory."
The shopkeepers had sought relief following their displacement during the 1984 military operation. The High Court's order overrides the state government's earlier stance against reducing the allotment rate for the affected traders.
