Putin and Trump extend birthday wishes to PM Modi

Russian President Vladimir Putin and US President Donald Trump have extended birthday wishes to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Putin described Modi as someone who is "rightly enjoying deep respect" in India and globally.

The greetings from both leaders come at a time of heightened diplomatic attention, with tensions over a US sanctions bill that would grant Trump expanded powers to penalize countries purchasing Russian oil.
