Supreme Court cancels planned meet with parliamentary panel on simultaneous elections

The Supreme Court had initially agreed to an informal meeting with a parliamentary committee examining simultaneous elections, but cancelled it after opposition MPs raised concerns about the propriety of such an interaction. The court expressed apprehension that discussing the matter could invite future judicial review challenges.
The proposed meeting was suggested by DMK MP P Wilson. The panel, known as the ONOE (One Nation One Election), had sought the informal interaction to discuss the simultaneous elections proposal with the apex court.
