Rahul Gandhi aligns with Elon Musk to attack Modi govt over Starlink, contradicting Congress's own stance

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi recently joined American entrepreneur Elon Musk in criticizing the Modi government over delays in granting Starlink a satellite communication license. Musk alleged that the Indian government was deliberately stalling his company's application at the behest of Indian business interests. Gandhi responded supportively on X, saying "Welcome to India, Elon. Wait till you discover the other guy." Starlink has already received a GMPCS licence and is awaiting final regulatory clearances for commercial operations.
However, Gandhi's move contradicts the Congress Party's established public position. The party has previously opposed Starlink's entry into India, with senior leaders like Jairam Ramesh claiming it was part of a strategy to build political goodwill with the United States. The Congress has not officially shifted its stance on the issue.
Starlink's satcom license application is currently under review alongside similar applications from Jio Satellite and Eutelsat OneWeb, all awaiting security clearance and final regulatory approval. Gandhi's alignment with Musk on the matter highlights the apparent disconnect between his personal political messaging and his party's documented opposition to Starlink's entry into the Indian market.
