Rahul Gandhi Demands Judicial Probe Into CBSE OSM Controversy, Questions EdTech Firm’s Selection

Rahul Gandhi escalates attack over CBSE evaluation controversy
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi intensified his criticism of the Centre over the ongoing controversy surrounding the CBSE On-Screen Marking (OSM) system, demanding an independent judicial investigation and the formation of a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to examine the matter.
In a video message shared on social media, Gandhi questioned the decision to award the evaluation-related contract to edtech firm COEMPT and alleged that the company had previously faced controversies under an earlier identity.
Congress raises concerns over company background
The Congress leader claimed that the firm, earlier known as Globarena, had allegedly been linked to examination-related controversies in Telangana in previous years. He questioned why the company was selected despite what he described as publicly available information regarding its past operations.
According to Gandhi, the issue has created anxiety among CBSE students and parents across the country, and he alleged that serious procedural questions remained unanswered.
Questions raised over contract allocation process
Rahul Gandhi also questioned the transparency of the contract allocation process and asked whether due diligence and background verification procedures were properly followed before assigning responsibilities connected to CBSE examinations.
He alleged that the matter required deeper scrutiny and sought clarity on the relationship, if any, between the company management and the government authorities involved in the decision-making process.
Demand for SIT and judicial inquiry intensifies political row
The Congress leader said that a judicial inquiry along with an SIT probe was necessary to identify accountability and uncover the facts behind the controversy. He further alleged that the issue could not be treated as an administrative error and demanded a transparent investigation into the complete process.
The remarks have intensified the political confrontation between the opposition and the Centre over education governance and examination management systems.
Rahul Gandhi appeals to students and parents
Addressing students directly, Gandhi assured CBSE candidates that their hard work and academic future should not be affected by administrative controversies. He urged students and parents to continue raising questions and seeking accountability regarding the issue.
The controversy has triggered widespread discussion on digital evaluation systems, examination transparency, and the role of private technology firms in public education processes.
