Election Commission explains why it declined meeting with Rahul Gandhi-led opposition MPs

The Election Commission of India stated that no political party formally requested a meeting through proper channels as protests occurred outside its office. Opposition leaders, including Rahul Gandhi, had attempted to march towards the EC to submit a memorandum.
The Commission emphasized that parties must follow prescribed procedures when seeking official meetings. It noted the opposition's request to meet at Parliament House Annexe was unusual, after which the EC offered an alternative arrangement.
The EC clarified its position on the incident, highlighting the importance of adhering to established protocols for such engagements.
