Railways, airports, data centres must ensure 100% redundancy in grid connections, says CEA

The Chief Energy Adviser has mandated that railways, airports, and data centres establish complete redundancy in their electrical lines connecting to the power grid. This directive aims to strengthen infrastructure resilience against potential grid failures or disruptions.
The requirement for 100% redundancy means these critical facilities must maintain dual or alternative pathways for power supply, ensuring uninterrupted operations during grid emergencies or maintenance work. Such measures are particularly important for sectors where service interruptions carry significant economic and operational costs.
The directive underscores the government's focus on building a more robust national power infrastructure. By imposing this standard on high-priority sectors, authorities seek to prevent cascading failures that could impact transportation, aviation, and digital services across the country.
