Railways to upgrade water systems at 20,000 locations after CAG flags E. coli contamination

The Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) has flagged the presence of E. coli bacteria in drinking water supplies across Indian Railways facilities. In response, Railways has announced a comprehensive upgrade programme targeting 20,000 locations across its network.
The initiative aims to address water quality concerns and ensure safe drinking water for passengers and staff. The upgrade will involve modernisation of water treatment and storage systems to meet health and safety standards.
