Rajasthan SC, ST bodies push for sub-quotas and creamy layer exclusion

Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe organisations in Rajasthan are intensifying their demands for sub-quota provisions within existing reservations and exclusion of creamy layer candidates from SC/ST benefits.
These bodies argue that sub-quotas would ensure equitable distribution of reserved seats among different sub-groups within SC and ST categories, while creamy layer exclusion would restrict benefits to economically weaker sections of these communities.
The push reflects ongoing debates in several states over refining reservation mechanisms to better serve the most disadvantaged sections of SC and ST populations.
