Rajya Sabha MP challenges facial recognition use at NEET protests in Supreme Court

Rajya Sabha MP A.A. Rahim has approached the Supreme Court challenging the use of facial recognition technology at NEET-related protests. He contends that the technology enables automated extraction and matching of biometric data from thousands of peaceful protesters and its linkage to national criminal databases.
Rahim argues this occurs in a legal vacuum, without adequate safeguards or regulatory oversight. The petition raises concerns about privacy and the potential misuse of biometric surveillance tools against citizens exercising constitutional rights.
