Ram Mandir Donation Probe Expands: ₹21 Crore Security and Prasad Spending Under Scrutiny

The probe into alleged misappropriation of donations at Ram Mandir in Ayodhya has widened to examine the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust's expenditure patterns. Financial records show the Trust spent approximately ₹10 crore on security and ₹11 crore on bhog and prasad between April 2025 and February 2026, according to its March 21 meeting statement.
The security spending—averaging ₹1 crore monthly—has raised concerns given that the temple already receives multiple security layers from central and state authorities, including round-the-clock police presence, CCTV surveillance and advanced infrastructure. Investigators are examining whether spending followed due process, who received contracts and how they were awarded.
The Trust received ₹83 crore in donations during the period, with ₹55 crore from donation boxes, ₹18 crore from counters and ₹8 crore online. The scrutiny intensified after theft allegations emerged from donation boxes despite extensive existing security arrangements.
