Panel led by Ramesh Chand set to address sugarcane sector challenges

A high-level committee headed by Ramesh Chand has been constituted to address pressing challenges facing India's sugarcane sector. The panel will work on policy interventions and structural reforms needed to support the industry.
Besides Chand, the committee comprises senior officials representing key government departments. Members include the Agriculture Commissioner, Joint Secretary (Sugar), Joint Secretary (Legal Metrology), and Director (Sugar) from the agriculture, food and consumer affairs ministries.
The constitution of the committee signals the government's intent to streamline operations in the sugar industry and address long-standing sectoral concerns that impact farmers and producers across the country.
