RBI amends valuation rules for InvIT and REIT units held by financial institutions
The RBI has amended valuation norms for Infrastructure Investment Trusts (InvIT) and Real Estate Investment Trusts (REIT) units held by all-India financial institutions. The new rules introduce separate provisions for quoted and unquoted units.
Under the revised framework, unquoted units will generally be valued at their disclosed net asset value (NAV). However, units of trusts that fail to meet prescribed NAV disclosure requirements or are classified as infrequently traded will be valued at Re 1 for regulatory purposes.
