Water storage in major Indian reservoirs drops to 71% amid southern concerns

Storage levels in India's 178 major reservoirs declined marginally this week to 71% of their total capacity, according to data released by the Central Water Commission (CWC).
The situation remains particularly concerning in the southern region, where water availability has become a pressing issue. The marginal dip reflects growing pressure on the country's water resources amid seasonal variations and demand.
The CWC continues to monitor reservoir levels across the nation as part of its regular assessment of water availability for irrigation, power generation, and drinking water supply.
