Retired judge, 90, duped of ₹2.5 crore in Jaipur digital arrest scam

A 90-year-old retired district judge in Jaipur fell victim to an elaborate fraud scheme in which he was kept under 'digital arrest' for 15 days. Fraudsters posing as officials from the Central Bureau of Investigation and Reserve Bank of India duped him of ₹2.5 crore.
The scammers allegedly confined him digitally, preventing him from communicating with family or authorities, while extracting the substantial sum. The case highlights the vulnerability of senior citizens to coordinated cyber fraud operations involving impersonation of government agencies.
