DRI Seizes 362.75 MT Pakistan-Origin Dry Dates Worth ₹5.66 Crore in Mumbai

The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI), Mumbai Zonal Unit, has seized 362.75 metric tonnes of dry dates originating from Pakistan, valued at approximately ₹5.66 crore. The 13 containers were intercepted at CFS Ambad, Nashik, after arriving from Jebel Ali, UAE, with falsified import documents.
Investigation revealed a transshipment scheme to mask Pakistan's origin. The dates were shipped from Karachi Port to Jebel Ali Port, then reloaded onto different containers bound for India through entities operated by Pakistani nationals. This attempted circumvention follows India's complete prohibition on Pakistan-origin goods, effective May 2, 2025, imposed after the Pahalgam terror attack.
DRI's 'Operation Deep Manifest' continues identifying and seizing Pakistan-origin goods routed through third countries. The agency stated the seizure demonstrates its commitment to disrupting sophisticated smuggling networks and safeguarding national security.
