Rupee weakens against dollar as importers demand currency
The Indian rupee weakened against the dollar on Thursday as importers increased their dollar purchases. The currency traded in a range of 95.10 to 95.24 per dollar during the session.
Easing oil prices failed to provide sufficient support for the rupee. Brent crude remained below $80 a barrel, but the decline was not enough to counteract downward pressure from import-driven dollar demand.
