Tamil Nadu must change mindset, allow Hindi in schools: Supreme Court
The Supreme Court has urged Tamil Nadu to reconsider its position on Hindi education in schools, stating that states should not function as independent entities. The bench called for discussions between Tamil Nadu and the Centre regarding Navodaya Vidyalayas and their curriculum approach.
Tamil Nadu's resistance stems from its two-language policy, which differs from the national approach to language education. The court's intervention highlights the tension between state autonomy and national integration on educational matters.
The hearing is scheduled to resume in December.
