Supreme Court cancels bail of corporator accused of attacking doctors

The Supreme Court has cancelled the bail of Ramesh Mhatre, a 73-year-old municipal corporator, who was arrested for allegedly attacking medical professionals. Mhatre's bail had been granted in July but was reconsidered following concerns raised by the High Court about broader implications for democracy.
The court observed that the responsibilities entrusted to doctors in a civilised society are profound. The decision marks a significant judicial intervention in the case.
